About the Teacher

I am a Springfield College and a Newton North High School graduate where I played baseball, soccer and hockey.  I have been teaching Wellness and coaching a variety of sports since 1983. I Student taught in Springfield and Newton.  My first year teaching was in Belmont, leading to 13 years in Littleton, before coming to Holliston in 2001.  My teaching and coaching responsibilities were primarily Wellness and head coach of baseball for 13 years in Littleton.  I was voted “Lowell Sun Coach of the Year” in 1996 when our team took me to the division III State Championship Finals.   I have a passion for teaching and learning.  I say all this with pride because when I was a junior in high school I knew I wanted to teach and coach.  One of the major influences in my life was my Jr & Sr High teacher and coach, Mr. Dick Fletcher because he praised tenacity.

After my first year in Holliston I was fortunate enough to be awarded Holliston High School’s “Teacher of the Year”.  Additionally, I was awarded MA-PHERD  “Teacher of the Year” for 2007 for Physical Education / Wellness.  I strive to be up to date in my professional knowledge and teaching skills.  I have completed my Masters Degree in educational technology at Framingham State College.  I read professional journals and magazines, I go to workshops, conferences, and seminars, and most importantly, I work to constantly improve upon our curriculum and the experience of our students .

My objective is to make the experience memorable and educational by providing an environment for each student to expand his or her ability and character in a forum that can transfer to all aspects of life.  I have high, and positive academic expectations and standards and hold students accountable for his and her actions. I hope your actions lead you closer to your  dreams and goals and one day to cross students path and share accolades and passions in life.
